In the early 1920's Wright lived for a short while in Southern California. During this time, he created a system of home construction using what he called "Textile Blocks". These blocks were cast concrete construction blocks, with a patterned exterior surface; some had perforations to allow light to pass through. Wright designed and built four homes during this time, all in Southern California. He also designed a building called the Community Playhouse that was never constructed.
